- Bright pictures of faces hung so baby can see them
- Rattle firmly attached to baby's wrist, ankle, booties
- Cardboard or vinyl books with high-contrast illustrations to stand in baby's view
- Brightly patterned crib sheets and bumpers
- Mobile with parts visible so baby can see while lying down
